Nowadays, bamboo flooring is considered as one of the most beautiful, attractive and natural flooring choices due to its warm finishes, attractive patterns, impressive looks, great flexibility, and long-lasting durability. It is a "Green" flooring choice because it uses bamboo as its key building material rather than hardwood trees. Bamboo grows at a much faster rate than trees and harvested plants are replaced with the new plants in just 5-7 years. In other words, bamboo plants save trees that otherwise be destroyed, if used in the manufacturing of traditional hardwood floors. Trees make an integral component of our ecosystems and may require 80-100 years to reach their maturity. So, not only bamboo plants provide us with the raw materials in a quick time, but they also protect our environment from green house effect, deforestation, and global warming. Bamboo flooring is as reliable as hardwood flooring with its own unique beauty and style. In addition to its wonderful appearance, it costs a bit less than most hardwoods. Compressed bamboo floors are harder than maple and red oak hardwood floors. As for as the manufacturing of bamboo floor is concerned, long tubes of bamboo stalks are primarily used to build it. Based on how the trimmed strips of bamboo are glued together, there are different types of bamboo flooring. We will discuss them in detail: Vertical bamboo flooring lays the strips on their narrow sides vertically with their border faces glued together. Thus, this type of flooring creates a more even look because the bamboo strips are laid across the floor in bunches. In vertical bamboo flooring, edge grains of bamboo provide a one-layer flooring of adequate thickness. Vertical bamboo flooring is considered as a reliable and durable choice because it holds up to the usual bumps and dents of everyday household activity, better than other hardwood materials. Horizontal bamboo flooring, on the other hand, is created by laying the bamboo strips on top of one another horizontally. It lays the strips side by side, gluing them together along the narrow dimensions. It is glued in three cross-grained layers for strength and thickness. It is generally believed that Horizontal cut bamboo flooring makes the hardest of the bamboo floors because of the way the pieces are glued together. Compressed-Strand or Woven-Strand bamboo flooring utilizes the thin, long strands trimmed from the bamboo stalks. These strands are woven together, impregnated with an adhesive or resin and then compressed under immense pressure to create durable flooring with a beautiful pattern that is strong in all directions. After compression, it can be cut into any size of boards or planks and used in place of hardwood flooring. This type of flooring is created by utilizing the by-products of the manufacturing process of the bamboo flooring that would otherwise be burned. It is important to keep in your mind that durability and stability of the Woven-Strand bamboo flooring depends on the quality and amount of the resin used to bind the strands of bamboo together. Before choosing a particular type of bamboo flooring, you need to consider the floor space that you are trying to cover. For example, in larger areas, where there is a high amount of foot traffic, you can consider horizontal bamboo flooring due to its strength and durability. For some floor sizes, you may consider vertical bamboo flooring because of its consistent look. Similarly, Compressed-Strand bamboo flooring is a good option if one wants to make his or her floor look beautiful and attractive.
